MARBOLO COWBOY DIED BECAUSE SMOKING

At one time he was the most famous smoker on the planet. Wayne McLaren - Marlboro man ads, handsome cowboy on a horse with a cigarette, is a picture of a man control his life, who could do anything and that does not have a problem. Twenty years ago, in July 1992, 52 years McLaren died of lung cancer caused by smoking.

He called the "Marlboro cowboy." After increasing sales of cigarettes from the brand to unprecedented heights, he spent the rest of his life to fight the tobacco companies. Before cigarette advertising, McLaren worked as an actor, model, people and rodeo rider action. By chance he was involved with the campaign that made him famous Marlboro cigarettes rich and famous.
He smoked two to three packs a day, but after being diagnosed with lung cancer in 1990, McLaren became an active member of the public movement against smoking. Chemotherapy and the removal of the lung did not stop cancer: the disease had spread throughout his body, and cause damage to brain metastasis. In 1953, scientists in the United States formally declared that smoking causes lung cancer. This statement is surprising smokers and cigarette companies have to quickly correct this situation. Owner of the Marlboro logo, and a large tobacco company, Philip Morris entrepreneurs began to think fast how to eliminate fear from smoking. There is one more radical innovation: Marlboro cigarettes are filtered cigarettes world first. Advertisers are reports that the filter will help prevent lung cancer and other unpleasant diseases. Advertisers exploited some pictures, starting from a rough sailor to builders of high altitude for a war correspondent. Everything, of course, looks bold and smoking Marlboros. Sales of cigarettes has soared: after the first ad campaign with a "cowboy," a brand ranked fourth in the market. Philip Morris came up with another innovation: a hard cardboard package with hinged lid. A "masculine logo" was created with a white strip literally "pushed into" the red one. In other words, cigarettes have become a symbol of masculinity and sexuality.
McLaren to appeal to viewers with a satisfied smile, "Welcome to Marlboro Country".

It seems that he believes what he says on TV: cigarette filters are not dangerous. In the two years before his death, Wayne McLaren became an active participant in the campaign against nicotine. In the video he stated that he regretted the destructive habit.
Wayne McLaren is believed to have started large-scale anti-tobacco campaigns around the world. The promoters of smoking became a big supporter of a healthy lifestyle. This struggle continues, albeit with varying degrees of success.

90 percent of deaths from lung cancer, 75 percent of deaths from chronic bronchitis and 25 percent of coronary heart disease due to smoking. In Russia, at least one in ten women are smokers, and among high school students 53 percent of boys and 28 percent of girls are smokers. 50-60 percent of Russian men could be called heavy smokers (among several categories of this number reached 95 per cent). Smoking and diseases caused by them every year resulting in the death of at least one million citizens of Russia.

According to sociologists, 12 percent of respondents believe that quitting smoking is easy, 56 thought that it was difficult, four percent believe that it is not possible, and 28 percent did not think about it. At the same time 21 percent of those surveyed tried to quit smoking, but most do not work. 47 percent of Russians consider smoking habits, 38 percent believe it to be an addiction, nine per cent - an incurable disease, and six percent of respondents were not able to determine their attitudes toward smoking.
Smoking poses serious health risks besides. It's no coincidence that the anti-fire measures newly applied in European countries. The European Union imposed a strict ban on "durable" cigarettes. This means that all cigarettes sold in stores must be self-extinguishing. The move was designed to reduce the number of fires caused by lit cigarettes unattended.
Cigarette manufacturers are mandated to use paper that is difficult to burn.
